They are popular alternatives to traditional firearms, offering a less-lethal option for personal protection. But what are the differences between the two models, and which one is right for you?

Byrna SD

The Byrna SD is the original model and is considered the most popular less-lethal pistol offered by Byrna.  It is powered by compressed air (CO2) and shoots .68 caliber round projectiles that can disable a threat from up to 60 feet. The Byrna SD fires chemical projectile filled with a highly potent mix of OC (pepper spray) and CS (tear gas) all in one shot. This makes it a highly effective less-lethal weapon that is legal to carry in all 50 states.
