At S.A. Self Defense, we design gear with one goal in mind: making everyday carry practical, comfortable, and dependable. The ShadowFlex holster line is a reflection of that approach—built carefully, tested in real use, and designed to adapt to how people actually carry their Byrna launchers.
ShadowFlex was developed as a modular holster system, allowing users to configure their carry setup without being locked into a single style or layout. From the materials used to the way the holster mounts to the belt, every element was chosen to support long-term, everyday wear.
We’re launching the ShadowFlex line with a model designed specifically for the Byrna CL, with additional Byrna-compatible models already in development.
Built with Purpose
ShadowFlex holsters combine a precision-formed Kydex shell with a flexible backing made from neoprene and TPM rubber. This hybrid design balances structure and comfort, helping the holster stay stable while remaining comfortable throughout the day.
The system supports both inside-the-waistband (IWB) and outside-the-waistband (OWB) carry, giving users the ability to adjust their setup based on clothing, environment, or personal preference. Multiple mounting options—including clip and belt loop configurations—allow the holster to adapt without needing a separate model.
Designed to Adapt
One of the core ideas behind ShadowFlex is adaptability. Instead of a one-piece design, the ShadowFlex system uses a modular shell that can be changed or replaced independently of the backing. This allows users to update or refresh their holster without replacing the entire setup.
ShadowFlex is also designed to support optional accessories, including concealment claws and microfiber liners, allowing users to fine-tune their carry experience based on how and where they carry.

The first ShadowFlex holster is engineered specifically for the Byrna CL, with model-specific geometry that ensures proper fit and consistent retention. Future ShadowFlex models will expand compatibility to additional Byrna launchers, including the Byrna SD, while maintaining the same design standards and modular approach.

The ShadowFlex line was designed as a complete carry system. Below are the core features built into every ShadowFlex holster.
Model-Specific Kydex Shell
Each ShadowFlex holster uses a precision-formed Kydex shell designed specifically for the Byrna platform it supports. This ensures proper fit, consistent retention, and a clean draw.
Hybrid Comfort Backing
The ShadowFlex backing uses a combination of neoprene and TPM rubber to balance comfort, breathability, and sweat resistance.
Neoprene helps cushion the holster against the body while remaining flexible and breathable during daily wear. The TPM rubber layer adds structure and durability while helping resist moisture buildup from sweat. Together, they allow airflow while keeping the holster stable and comfortable throughout the day.
This combination is designed for real-world carry—especially in warm climates or during extended wear.
IWB and OWB Carry Support
ShadowFlex supports both inside-the-waistband and outside-the-waistband carry using the same holster. Carry style can be adjusted without replacing the setup.

The holster has and can be configured with IWB clips, 1.5 belt through the belt loop , or by setting the IWB clip up for OWB carry—allowing you to change carry style without replacing the setup.
Claw-Ready Design
ShadowFlex is compatible with concealment claws both winged and non winged (sold separately), allowing users to enhance concealment during IWB carry by drawing the grip closer to the body.
Optional Microfiber Liner
The shell can be configured with an optional microfiber liner to help protect the launcher’s finish and reduce internal wear during repeated holstering.
Modular Shell System
The ShadowFlex system allows the shell to be replaced independently of the backing. This makes it easy to change colors, refresh worn shells, or adapt as new models are released.
