Pepper guns, also known as pepper ball launchers, are non-lethal self-defense tools that use compressed gas to propel various types of projectiles. These projectiles are designed to incapacitate or deter an attacker or animal without causing permanent harm.

Let’s explore the different kinds of pepper gun ammo:

Pepper Balls Ammo .68 caliber

Pepper Rounds: These are the primary ammunition for pepper guns. They contain a payload of oleoresin capsicum (OC), which is the active ingredient in pepper spray.

You can see the effects of pepper ammo in the video below:

When fired, these rounds burst upon impact, releasing a cloud of irritant that affects the eyes, nose, and respiratory system of the target. Pepper rounds are effective for less-than-lethal self-defense.

Rubber Balls Ammo .68 caliber

Rubber Balls: Rubber balls serve as training ammunition or can be used as self defnese. They are solid and do not contain any irritants. These rounds are useful for practicing accuracy and handling without the discomfort caused by pepper rounds.

You can see the self defense effects and training uses of the Rubber ammo in the video below:

They are commonly used during training sessions but can aslo be very affective for self defense as well.

Powder Balls Ammo .68 caliber

Powder Balls: Powder balls or Eco-knitic ammo are another type of training ammunition. Unlike rubber balls, they burst upon impact, creating a cloud of inert powder. These rounds provide a more realistic training experience, simulating the effects of pepper rounds without the actual irritant.

You can see the Eco-Kinetic ammo in training use with the video below:

Metal Balls Ammo .68 caliber (S.A. Self Defense does not sell or recommend this ammo)

S.A. self defense does not recommend steel ball ammo for there pepper gun

Metal Balls: Some pepper guns can also fire metal balls. These are typically used for practice or recreational shooting. However, S.A. Self defense does not recommended this ammo for self-defense purposes, training purposes and is known to ruin your pepper gun and due to their potential lethality.

S.A. Self Defense strongly advises against any steel or metal ammo.

Tear Gas and Pepper Balls Ammo .68 caliber

Tear Gas / Pepper Ammo: Like the pepper ammo the tear gas / pepper ammo is strictly for self defense. They not only contain a payload of oleoresin capsicum (OC), which is the active ingredient in pepper spray they contain a tear gas powder (CS powder) mixed with the pepper powder to give you the most effective non lethal self defense dose to ward off an attacker or any animal.

You can see the effect of the OC and CS ammo in the video below:

With the right ammo you can be at ease with your Pepper Gun feeling safe anywhere from the city to deep in the woods from any threat or possible threat to your or your loved ones.
